Kindness Speaks by Bear Sage
I see your joy
look at you, all lit up
come here, tell me everything
what did she say
what were you wearing
how was the light
no, slow down
I want all of it
°
I see your fear
shaking a little, I know
come sit
no, you do not have to explain it yet
breathe with me
in
out
I am right here
I am not going anywhere
°
I see your grief
oh, sweetheart
come here
no, you do not have to talk
I will make tea
I will sit on the floor with you
say their name
say it again
I am listening
°
I see your anger
yes, I know
yes, it was wrong
yes, you can be this big
I am not afraid of you
tell me who
tell me what they took
I am still here
I am still here
°
I see your shame
no, do not look away
I know what you are carrying
I have carried it too
you are still mine
do you hear me
you are still mine
°
I see your emptiness
empty hands, empty mouth
that is alright
sit with me
the kettle is on
you do not have to be good company tonight
the quiet is enough
the quiet is the visit
°
I see your sharpness
I know
I know someone put that in you
I am not going to hand it back
I am going to wait
I will be here when you come back
take your time
°
this is me
turning toward you
again
and again
and again

If I forgive,
it means it was ok;
they get away with it;
I deserved what happened?
No !
Don’t let this story set in,
so that it seeps from your scars.
Show kindness to your soul.
Savour the sense of serenity
that will ensue
as you escape their sins
and find freedom
from a frame
favouring them.
Comb through the strands,
untangle your resolve,
and colour your fierce revolution
with crimson shades
from your seeping scars.
There’s no war of words to win;
no prisoner to repatriate.
Cut free from chains of carnage.
Become unbridled from your bruises.
No absolution will abound,
no harbingers will herald
hues of you hurt,
only hope for a healing heart.
Poignant. Evokes bittersweet sentiments. Ouch!
